New Mexico Fermentation Festival

Gutiérrez-Hubbell House

Saturday, June 23, 2018 @ 10:00 am (general admission and Mob tickets)

We are excited to have you joining us for the fermentation event of the year!

TIMES: The doors will open for for general admission and Mob ticket holders at 10am. You can arrive anytime between 10am – 5pm, but be sure to allow yourself enough time to taste all the fabulous samples our vendors will be serving up and check out the full day of educational sessions.

TICKETS/REGISTRATION: For quickest entry, bring your e-tickets or Groupon Vouchers. If you have misplaced, you can search for the email you should have received from stephanie@ediblenm.com when you made the purchase. We can also look you up on the will call list at the registration table if you can’t locate your e-tickets.

MOB TICKET HOLDERS: When you arrive at the event, go to the Mob registration table. You can also upgrade your general admission ticket for a Mob ticket the day of the event. See registration for upgrading options.

CASH is recommend for purchasing from vendors as the internet is spotty at this venue and not all will have credit card readers.

PARKING: Parking for the event is free and will be on Hubbell Circle just south of the Hubbell House—just follow the “Event” signs. For driving directions and parking information, click here.

ALCOHOL: If you plan on sampling and purchasing alcohol,  please bring a photo ID, regardless of age—everyone must be carded.

BE PREPARED: It will be HOT! Please plan for the heat, this is an outdoor event. Even though there will be shade throughout the venue, we highly recommend hats, sunscreen, water bottles, etc…we will have water stations on site and you can use your Festival souvenir glass to fill up or bring your own water bottles. This event is rain or shine!

DOGS: Unless you have and assistance dog, we ask that you leave your dogs at home.

BRING A CHAIR: Although there will be seating available in the workshop tents and around the property, because of the heat, you may want to bring a lawn chair so you can get off your feet if you feel the need and all the seating is taken.

CULTURE & FERMENT SWAP:
Located in the Culture Swap “Kitchen” from 11am – 3pm
At the Fermentation Festival we will have a space devoted to swapping live cultures. The Culture & Ferment Swap will be a dedicated space at the festival for sharing and swapping your beloved mothers, starters, and ferments. Think sourdough mothers, vinegar mothers, kombucha SCOBYs, krauts, hot sauces, pickles, and more. So, if you have extra cultures and ferments you would like to share—bring them to the Festival for exchanging. Please label your cultures and ferments clearly and the ingredients used. You don’t have to include contact info, but it is encouraged.

BIKE IT TO THE FESTIVAL: An organized bike ride will start at the the Paseo del Bosque Trail at 9am on June 23. The ride is approx. 45 minutes long. A free bike valet will also be available during the hours of the festival from 10am to 5pm. Get the details here.

BOOK SIGNINGS: We will have an amazing group of distinguished authors signing their books. Meet and greet Hannah Crum (11am), Kirsten Shockey (11:45am), and Alex Lewin (4:15pm) and have them sign your favorite fermentation books–bring your own or purchase at the festival. Bookworks will be on site selling these author’s best sellers plus a small curated selection of fermentation books to peruse and purchase.

KIDS FERMIE WORKSHOPS: At10:15 and 11:45 join Kids Cook for a hands-on fermented blueberry soda making workshop. Each participant will make and bottle an 8oz bottle of soda to take home. Workshop size is limited–first come, first served. $5 donation recommended.

WILD WALK at 11:00.  Join Dryland Wilds for a 45 minute foraging walk and learn the edible and useful plants of our high desert! Focusing on invasive and common plants of our area, these foraging skills are useful both in urban and wild contexts and great for all ages. Wild Walk is free with general admission to Fermentation Festival. Look for sign near registration.

See you at the festival on Saturday!

Best regards,
The Edible Team
